Deb from The Widow Badass and I arrived in St John’s, Newfoundland this morning and my plan for the next week is to post a single photo from each day we are here.
I’m not sure how it’s possible to have a sunny day but fog as thick as cotton at the same time … but I guess that’s Newfoundland!
Through the thick bank of fog in the harbour there it was – our first iceberg spotted in the distance.

Hi Joanne, The iceberg likely gave you goosebumps for many reasons. A “cool” photo:). I like how you said fog, icebergs and great people. I am following you and Deb on instagram, too. Fun!

Okay, this is going to be ace! (Sorry I’m late, I ran to catch up. Ah, no I didn’t. Definitely no running. [whispers] Is my haematologist listening?)
I have a thing I can’t explain about Newfoundland. Probably because, you know, they’re pretty funny dogs. I knew one up the street when I was a kid. 😛

You’re still not running? How long do they think it’s going to be?
Newfoundland has exceeded all my expectations and I feared they were much too high!

I was told no running for a month. That’s not up yet. Next haematologist appointment is tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get an idea of what’s allowed.
That’s so great!

It did! Looks hopeful I won’t have to take the blood thinners after the 3 months is up. And I’m allowed to go back to running. 😊

Thanks Deborah. There was a thick wall of fog that rolled in shortly after. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Thankfully it didn’t impact any of our plans 🙂

Oh how I love St. John’s, home of my alma mater and my brother. Its hard to tell from the photo, but is the ‘berg in the harbour narrows?

Our first (partial) day has certainly been a success and more than a few laughs. I think we are very good travelling companions 🙂
… and the iceberg sighting on the first day was a bonus!! So much more to come!
